Effective June 17, 2023, the fee for visitor visas for business or tourism and other non-petition based NIVs such as student and exchange visitor visas will increase from $160 to $185. The fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) will increase from $190 to $205. The fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (E category) will increase from $205 to $315.
NIV fees are set based on the actual cost of providing NIV services and are determined after conducting a study of the cost of these services. The Department uses an Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodology to calculate, annually, the cost of providing consular services, including visa services. The fees for most non-petition based NIVs were last updated in 2012, and certain other NIV fees were last updated in 2014. Other consular fees are not affected by this rule, including the waiver of the two-year residency required fee for certain exchange visitors.
Appointments for non-immigrant visa interviews are available on a first-come, first-serve basis as capacity allows. To make an appointment for a non-immigrant visa interview, please use our online NIV Appointment System. Please note that if you are a non-citizen/non-resident of the Kyrgyz Republic and you schedule an appointment using our online scheduling program, your appointment will be cancelled, and you will be notified via email. Applicants requesting an expedited appointment, those applying for E visas, and/or applicants who are not resident in the Kyrgyz Republic should follow the directions provided in our online Navigator to make their request.

The U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides several categories of nonimmigrant visas for those who want to visit the United States temporarily. Visitor visas are nonimmigrant visas for persons who want to enter the United States temporarily for business (visa category B-1), tourism, pleasure, or visiting (visa category B-2), or a combination of both purposes (B-1/B-2). You may register for one non-immigrant visa appointment at a time through our online appointment system. All visa appointments must also have an attached visa application (form DS-160).
To request an expedited appointment, please consult our Navigator and follow the directions for the appropriate category. Please note that the Navigator does not collect information, and you will be required to send an email to make an expedite request.
Expedited appointments are offered on a limited basis, primarily for medical and humanitarian emergencies. Travel for the purpose of attending weddings and graduation ceremonies, assisting pregnant relatives, participating in an annual business/academic/professional conferences, or enjoying last-minute tourism does not qualify for an expedited appointment.
