Bishkek – The website www.testing.kg for the first time ever now offers free online practice tests to help school children in Kyrgyzstan prepare for the national university admission test. The innovative test that expands opportunity for Kyrgyz students to obtain a higher education was introduced with support from the United States through USAID.
The online practice tests were designed by the Center for Educational Assessment and Teaching Methods (CEATM), an independent organization that designs and conducts the national university admissions test. The structure and layout of the online test resembles the real paper-based tests. Currently the website offers only math and verbal-logical tests in Kyrgyz and Russian, but the Center plans to add all subject tests covered by the national testing.
Computer-based tests are offered in the CEATM office. All interested school graduates and students of 2-11 grades can take the tests in Kyrgyz and Russian for a fee.
USAID also helped to develop Kyrgyz language test materials, revise and publish brochures for students, update www.testing.kg, and purchase necessary equipment for the computer-based testing and data processing.
National university testing has been conducted in Kyrgyzstan since 2002 and is one of the biggest anti-corruption projects in education sector, helping to ensure equal and fair access to higher education in the country.
