U.S. Government Donates over $1.9 million in Medical Supplies

On June 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. a handover ceremony of a humanitarian donation valued at over $1.9 million USD will take place at the Bishkek City Clinical Hospital #6.

The humanitarian donation is delivered through the American charitable organization Project HOPE under the United States Department of State “Operation Provide Hope” program and contains medicines and medical supplies generously donated by leading pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Hospira, Merck, Alcon, Covidien, 3M and others.

Ambassador Pamela L. Spratlen, Minister of Health Dinara Z. Saginbaeva, representatives of recipient medical institutions and Project HOPE representatives will attend the event.

Sixteen medical institutions in Bishkek City, Chuy, Osh and Batken Regions, and three social establishments are recipients of this donation. The humanitarian assistance will be delivered according to a distribution plan approved by the Ministry of Health, based upon needs and requests from medical and social institutions.

Thanks to this humanitarian donation, over 35,000 patients will receive high quality medicines and medical supplies. More than 7,000 patients suffering from oncological diseases and more than 5,000 patients suffering from eye diseases will receive free of charge treatment. About 21,000 patients will receive medical service with modern and high quality medical supplies.
