Immigrant Visa Processing Begins in Bishkek

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that as of November 14, 2016 the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek will process immigrant visa cases for residents of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Beneficiaries of immigrant visa petitions and winners of the Diversity Visa Lottery who reside in the Kyrgyz Republic will no longer need to travel to Almaty for visa interviews and medical exams.  Applicants will be able to complete all requirements at the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek and through Embassy-contracted panel physicians in Bishkek.  In addition, beneficiaries interviewed in Bishkek will have the option of requesting interviews in English, Kyrgyz, or Russian.

Please note, individuals who have already attended or are scheduled for an interview prior to November 14, 2016, will need to continue their immigrant visa process with the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty unless otherwise notified by the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek via email.  From November 14, 2016 onward, the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek will automatically schedule appointments for Kyrgyz citizens and those of other nationalities who are resident in the Kyrgyz Republic at the Embassy in Bishkek.  Applicants with questions regarding their appointments or the immigrant visa process in general can email the Consular Section at
