Emergency Message – Ongoing Security Situation

U.S. Embassy Bishkek informs U.S. citizens that local media outlets are reporting an ongoing security situation related to an anti-terrorism operation being conducted by police on Gorky Street in the area of Tashrabat shopping center.  There have been reports of automatic weapons fire and explosions and police have closed many streets in the surrounding areas.

U.S. citizens in Bishkek are advised to seek cover and stay indoors until the situation has calmed.   Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates.  Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security.
