The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the 2018 Book Translation Program.
PAS is soliciting proposals from publishing houses, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations to publish books by American authors in the Kyrgyz language. The program provides funding for copyright acquisition (if needed), translation, and printing.
We expect to award several grants, with an average award amount of $10,000 to $15,000. The minimum print run is typically 3,000 copies. The published books will be distributed by the U.S. Embassy and partners to educational institutions and public libraries in the Kyrgyz Republic.
For this round we are focused on fiction or non-fiction books appropriate for secondary school or university students on topics such as youth issues, women’s empowerment, civic participation, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, science and technology. Books appropriate for use in reading and discussion groups or in secondary school or university classes are encouraged.
Proposals containing a narrative summary and a budget outline in English should be sent to PAS using the email address below no later than February 5, 2018. For more information, please contact PAS at the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, telephone: (0312) 59-70-00 (ext.7698), e-mail: BishkekProjectProposals@state.gov.
